Anime Expo: eleven booths in two years

A booth-building company built booths for game publishers at Anime Expo in 2025 and 2026, and both years we were its AV subcontractor. Four booths the first year, seven the second, most of them with a stage program of their own.

The booth structures were made overseas and shipped in, so many details were settled on the hall floor. The build required union labor, booked across several booths at once. In 2026 the flown screens were reinforced and insured, approved and hung by the venue’s rigging team, and we installed after them.

PixelPro Productions supplies and runs LED walls, sound and lighting for booths and events at the Los Angeles Convention Center, from its warehouse in Anaheim. At Anime Expo 2025 and 2026 it was the AV subcontractor to a booth builder: eleven booths, twelve LED walls and about 180 m² of LED, including a 10 × 3.5 m flown wall and an outdoor wall outside the hall, with engineers on site running each booth’s stage program. In December 2024 it built about 136 m² of LED, more than 140 lighting fixtures and line-array sound for the WPA Heyball Parasport World Championship in the same building in two days. An 11.5 × 6.6 ft wall is $3,490 all-in with a technician; delivery to the Convention Center is a flat $300 per event.

Two ways in: a booth, or the whole hall

A booth inside someone else’s show runs on that show’s rules and deadlines. An event that takes a whole hall works with the venue directly. We have done both, and they run differently.

A booth inside a show

Anime Expo 2025 and 2026: AV subcontractor to the booth builder.

  1. Before the show

    • The booth builder sends its drawings. We size each wall, its processing and the power it needs.
    • Flown screens are reinforced and insured, and the hanging is approved by the venue.
  2. Move-in

    • The build uses union labor. We book and coordinate it across several booths.
    • The venue’s rigging team hangs the flown screens first; we install after them.
    • Changes and added gear come up on site: in 2026 we worked past 3 a.m. the night before opening.
  3. Show days

    • Our engineers run each booth’s stage program: video, sound and mics, to the rundown.

A whole hall

The Heyball championship, Hall G, 2024. Deadlines from the LACC Event Planning Guide.

  1. 30 days before move-in

    • AV contractor application, two venue references and our certificate of insurance, for this event only.
    • Scaled floor plans and the production schedule.
    • All rigging and suspension details, including any attachment to the building over 40 lb.
    • An isometric rendering of any wall structure over 15 ft.
  2. 21 days before

    • Fire permit requests, including haze and fog.
  3. 2 weeks before

    • Wet-stamped engineered plans for tall walls go to LA Building and Safety.
    • Catwalk escort booked, if the job needs the catwalks.
  4. 48 hours before

    • Haze test with the Fire Department, if haze is used.
  5. Move-in

    • The rigger marks the floor and hangs truss and motors, from 60 ft boom lifts.
    • The electrical contractor runs power over three days.
    • We build, connect and calibrate the LED: about 136 m² in two days.

Whole-hall deadlines: Los Angeles Convention Center, Event Planning Guide (2024 edition): Floor Plans, Catwalk Access, Fire Safety, Hazers, Temporary Structures and the AV Contractor application. Booth steps and move-in: our own Anime Expo and Heyball jobs. Confirm dates with your LACC Event Manager, or for a booth, with the show’s exhibitor services.

Questions about LED walls at the LA Convention Center

Can you supply LED walls for several booths at the Los Angeles Convention Center at once?

Yes. At Anime Expo 2026 PixelPro supplied and ran the AV for seven booths at once for one booth builder: eight LED walls, sound on six booths and lighting on five, with a crew of eight on site through the show.

Who hangs a flown LED wall at the Los Angeles Convention Center?

At Anime Expo 2026 the flown screens were reinforced and insured, then approved and hung by the venue’s rigging team; PixelPro installed the LED after them. In 2025 PixelPro flew a 10 × 3.5 m Gloshine DN 2.6 wall from ten rigging bars. For the Heyball championship in Hall G in 2024, the show’s rigger hung the truss on 14 half-ton motors over two days, working from 60 ft boom lifts.

Do I have to use the Los Angeles Convention Center’s in-house AV company?

No. AV is not an exclusive service at the LACC: exhibitors may bring their own AV company, which must file a certificate of insurance with the venue for each event. Rigging, electrical service and the general service contractor must come from the LACC’s authorized list, and house sound in meeting rooms is operated only by Encore.

Does a tall LED wall need a permit at the Los Angeles Convention Center?

If its structure is over 15 ft, yes. Under the LACC’s temporary structures guideline it needs a wet-stamped engineered plan, a City of Los Angeles Building and Safety permit and the Fire Marshal’s approval, with plans due two weeks before move-in.

What power does a booth LED wall need at the Convention Center?

Through the show’s authorized electrical contractor, sized to the load. The Heyball championship stage in 2024 ran on two 400 A 208 V three-phase services for the stage AV, lighting and LED walls, and a 200 A service from the catwalk for the truss lights, installed by the electrical contractor’s crew over the three days before the event. We work out the load and tell you what to order.

How much is an LED wall for a booth at the LA Convention Center?

An 11.5 × 6.6 ft wall is $3,490 in MR 2.6, $3,780 in PL 2.6 or $5,460 in MV Pro 2.6, with the processor, setup, strike and a technician. Delivery from Anaheim to the Convention Center is a flat $300 per event; flown walls and multi-day shows are quoted.

Can you work as the AV subcontractor for a booth builder from overseas?

Yes. At Anime Expo 2025 and 2026 PixelPro was the AV subcontractor to a booth builder whose structures were made overseas and shipped in. Our crew speaks English and Mandarin, reviews drawings before move-in, and the exhibitors stay the builder’s clients.
