LED screens for retail stores: eight lessons from
more than 20 Miniso stores
Published
The first LED screen in a Miniso store in the US is the one we installed at its Times Square flagship in 2023. We have since fitted more than 20 Miniso stores across the country. These eight lessons come from those stores.
- 20+ Miniso stores
- Stores in four states
- Night work in trading stores
- California license #1063528

Putting LED screens into a retail store means settling a few things before anything is ordered: every store layout is different, so the cabinet size and the power have to be matched store by store; stores that stay open during a refit usually allow only night work; window screens facing the street need high brightness; malls run their own rigging and load reviews; stores outside your installer’s home state need a local fit-out team; and someone has to service the screens once they are running every day. PixelPro Productions installed the first LED screen in a Miniso store in the US, at the Times Square flagship in 2023, and has since fitted more than 20 Miniso stores across the US, contracting directly with Miniso, usually with P2.5 fine-pitch LED.

Eight things, from design to service
The first four are decided at the design and quote stage; the last four on site and after handover.
- LED or an LCD video wall? Before 2023, Miniso’s US store designs used LCD video walls. The Times Square flagship was the first to use LED, and we have since fitted more than 20 stores. Stores usually take P2.5 fine-pitch LED.
- Does every store need its own design? Yes. More than 20 Miniso stores meant more than 20 different designs: each screen is built from cabinets sized to that store’s wall, and the power is designed store by store. One drawing does not roll out to every location.
- What goes in the window? A window facing the street fights daylight and needs a high-brightness screen. At Times Square the window screen is a high-brightness transparent LED, facing the intersection: some of the best advertising space the store has.
- Can the store stay open? Many of our store jobs were refits of trading stores, replacing lightboxes and printed graphics with LED. Most of that work can only happen at night, so the schedule is planned in night shifts, with the stock covered before work starts.
- What will the mall review? Large malls review rigging and loads closely. At American Dream in New Jersey the mall required a structural engineer’s certification of the rigging, and the custom structure for the store’s round screen had to match the building’s load points one for one. Ask for the mall’s requirements before the quote.
- Who builds the structure and the power? In the Los Angeles area we build it all: framing, backing, power and the LED. At the Miniso store in Pasadena, in September 2023, that meant the structure, the LED, the power and the control. Licensed structural and power work we take on in California only.
- What about stores in other states? Outside California the local fit-out team builds the wall, and we supply and install the LED. We are a licensed general contractor in California, so we speak the fit-out team’s language: drawings, trades, structure and power.
- Who services it? A store screen runs every day and needs someone to look after it. The screen behind the tills at Miniso Irvine Spectrum went in in July 2023; our engineers were still servicing it in September 2026.
Miniso: from Times Square to more than 20 stores
In 2023 we installed the first LED screens in a Miniso store in the US, at the Times Square flagship: one at the tills, and a high-brightness transparent screen in the window. The stores since include Wall Street, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Florida Mall in Orlando (Miniso’s 100th US store) and American Dream in New Jersey.
Many were refits of trading stores, done at night. The three photos below are one store’s refit: framing, backing and LED cabinets.

Structure and power in Pasadena; a round screen at American Dream
At the Miniso store in Pasadena, in September 2023, we built the screen high on the wall above the shop floor: the structure, the LED, the power and the control.
At American Dream the mall required a structural engineer’s certification of the rigging; the custom structure for the store’s round screen matches the building’s load points one for one.

Three years on: servicing the screen at Irvine Spectrum
The screen behind the tills at Miniso Irvine Spectrum went in in July 2023. When our engineers came back to service it in September 2026, it was still running every day.

One checklist: when to decide, and who does it
- Design: Cabinet size and power, store by store; a high-brightness screen for the window (Transparent LED for windows)
- Before the quote: The mall’s rigging and load review (Miniso case study)
- On site: Night shifts in trading stores; a local fit-out team outside California (LED wall installation)
- After handover: Ongoing service (Our work in Irvine)
- If you are a fit-out contractor: You build the store; hand the LED to us (For integrators)
Where we can help
PixelPro Productions designs, builds and services store LED screens: in California the structure, power and LED together, under our contractor license; in other states the LED, alongside your local fit-out team; and service once the screens are running.
Send us the store address, the opening or refit date and the store design you already have. We will tell you what the job involves.
Questions about store LED screens
Can LED screens be installed while a store stays open?
Yes, and often only at night. Many of the Miniso stores PixelPro Productions refitted were trading stores: lightboxes and printed graphics were replaced with LED, most of the work was done at night, and the stock was covered before work started.
Can you install store LED screens outside California?
Yes, the LED. Miniso’s stores are across the US: outside the Los Angeles area the local fit-out team builds the wall and PixelPro Productions supplies and installs the LED. Licensed structural and power work we take on in California only.
Who maintains a store LED screen?
We can. The LED screen at Miniso Irvine Spectrum was installed in July 2023, and PixelPro Productions’ engineers were still servicing it in September 2026.
