PixelPro Productions designs and installs permanent LED video walls across Southern California from Anaheim, California, under California contractor licence #1063528 (class B, General Building). We survey the site, size the screen in whole cabinets, design the mounting structure and the power, and commission NovaStar control with NCE-certified staff in-house. Our installations include a 38 × 13 ft P2.5 LED wall at Good Stewards Church in West Covina and two P2.5 screens for a church in Irvine.
Three things decide whether an LED wall works
The panels are the part everyone compares. What decides whether a wall looks right, stays up and runs every week is the work around them.
Structure
An LED wall is heavy, and it hangs over people. The wall at Good Stewards Church weighs about 1,020 kg (2,250 lb); each of the two screens in Irvine about 800 lb. In West Covina the stage wall was half an inch out of plumb, so the aluminium frame stands on the concrete slab through openings in the stage. In Irvine the walls behind the old projector screens turned out to be steel studs and drywall, so each screen hangs on steel brackets anchored to the concrete wall behind. In California, that much weight overhead is also a seismic question. Structural work like this is what a General B licence covers.
Power
A fine-pitch wall draws serious power, and older buildings rarely have their drawings on file. At Good Stewards we surveyed the electrical service and designed a 208 V supply. That halved the power cabling, so it could run through conduit the building already had: a 70 A breaker in the existing panel and a new sub-panel at the wall.
Control
Both church walls run on NovaStar control, configured by NCE-certified staff in-house: a VX16s for the 7.1-million-pixel wall in West Covina, and one VX1000 driving both screens in Irvine so they always show the same picture. We are an authorised NovaStar dealer and NovaStar’s 2025 Distributor of the Year, so the people who supply the controller are the people who set it up and support it.
How a wall gets built
- Site survey. We measure the wall and the room, find out what the wall is actually built from, read any drawings the building has, and check the electrical service.
- Screen size. LED screens grow in whole cabinets, so size is a choice between real options. In Irvine, 7 × 6 cabinets still fit the old 4:3 surround and show 16:9 content about a third larger than 6 × 6 would.
- Structure. A frame or brackets designed for the wall in front of us: aluminium extrusion down to the slab in West Covina, 2 × 2 in steel tube to concrete in Irvine.
- Power. Supply voltage, breakers and cable routes, designed from the survey of the existing service.
- Controller. Specified from the cabinet layout. Send us the layout and we will quote the model on the real pixel count, not a rule of thumb.
- Factory build. For Good Stewards, the whole wall was first assembled at the factory at the church’s exact dimensions, burned in and given a NovaStar full-screen calibration. Every cabinet and module was numbered and went back in the same position on site.
- Installation and levelling. The frame is brought within 1 mm before the first cabinet goes up. At Good Stewards the finished surface was flat to 0.5 mm across 144 cabinets, checked with a laser level.
- Handover. Configuration and training built around your own operators and the equipment you already run.
Most quotes carry a single line for “LED installation”, with no standard and no result attached. Ask what yours will be built to. We write ours down.
In buildings that have to stay open
An LED retrofit happens in a room that is already in use. A church cannot lose a Sunday, so the schedule is the real project: at Good Stewards the wall was delivered on a Monday and the congregation worshipped in front of it six days later.
Every room also starts with a system already in it. Deciding what can stay is where budgets are won or lost. In West Covina the church’s projectors became supporting displays either side of the new wall, and every existing camera was reinstalled into the new system. In Irvine the screens were sized to the surrounds already there, so the sanctuary’s finishes did not change.

Questions before an LED wall
Do I need a licensed contractor to install an LED wall in California?
For a permanent wall, almost always. It attaches to the building, draws line-voltage power and in most jurisdictions needs a permit, which puts it inside California’s licensing rules for construction work. The structure is the part people underestimate: the 38-foot wall we built in West Covina weighs over a ton, and in California that much weight overhead is also a seismic question. We do this work under CSLB licence #1063528, class B (General Building). The licence is a public record you can check before you award.
What pixel pitch do we need?
It depends on how close the nearest viewers sit and what the screen will show: text and fine detail need a finer pitch than video seen from the back of a hall. We recommend a pitch after seeing the room, not from a table. Both church walls described on this page use 2.5 mm (P2.5) fine-pitch LED.
Can an LED screen go where our projector screen is now?
Usually, once the wall behind it has been checked. A projector screen weighs very little, and the wall that holds it was often built for exactly that. In Irvine the old screen walls were steel studs and drywall, so the new 800 lb screens hang on steel brackets anchored to the concrete wall behind, and they were sized in whole cabinets to fit the existing 4:3 surrounds.
How heavy is an LED wall, and can our wall hold it?
Heavier than most people expect: about 1,020 kg (2,250 lb) for the 38 × 13 ft wall at Good Stewards Church. Finishes such as drywall or a stage deck are not structure. We find out what the load can go into, a concrete slab in West Covina and a concrete wall in Irvine, and design the frame or brackets to carry it there.
How long does an installation take?
Time on site is usually short compared with the lead time for the LED itself. At Good Stewards the wall was delivered on a Monday, the frame took three days to build and level, the cabinets went up and were configured over the following days, and the church worshipped in front of it that Sunday. What sets your date is mostly equipment lead time and the structural and power work the room needs. We will tell you which one is binding after the survey.
Which LED brands do you install?
We specify the panel for the project. Both church walls on this page are Gloshine fine-pitch LED: Blade2.5 in West Covina and BD2.5 in Irvine. Control is NovaStar, where we are an authorised dealer and NovaStar’s 2025 Distributor of the Year.
